One of the most famous dishes of Indian cuisine is Chicken Tikka, which consists of chicken pieces marinated and cooked on skewers in an oven. Let us make it at home with this easy recipe:
Ingredients
For the marinade:
Chicken: 500g boneless (preferably thighs or breast, cut into bite-sized pieces)
Yogurt (curd): ½ cup, thick
Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
Mustard oil (optional): 1 tablespoon .
Red chili powder—one teaspoon or to taste.
Garam masala—one teaspoon.
Cumin powder—one half teaspoon.
Coriander powder—one teaspoon.
Chaat masala—one, for the sourness.
Salt: as per taste.
For Basting on Grill:
Butter or oil, as per requirements.
Skewers—either metal or soaked bamboo.
Directions:
1. Make the Marinade
In a mixing bowl, tilt the yogurt with some water so that it is smooth.
Add in the ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, mustard oil, and all the masalas, and mix well.
2. Marinate the Chicken
To the marinade prepared, add the chicken pieces, mixing well with the out marinade.
Cover with a lid and place inside the refrigerator for at least two hours (preferably overnight for maximum flavour).
3. Warm Up the Grill
Set your oven, grill, or barbecue to 200°C (400°F) in advance. When working with an oven, choose the grill/broil option.
4. Spool the Chicken
Stick the appropriate skewers into the marinated chicken pieces. Do not push the pieces too close to each other.
5. Cook the Chicken
Grill/Barbecue: Arrange the skewers on the grill and cook for 10-12 minutes portions.
Oven: Arrange the skewers in an oven-safe tray lined with aluminum foil. Cook for 20-25 minutes, rotating and basting with butter halfway through.
6. To Give It More Typical Taste, Burn It
Get a kitchen torch and heat up the matter while it is filesystem-oriented. You may also just place the kebabs over an open flame very briefly if you want a tandoori finish.
7. Presentation
Lightly dust with chaat masala, lemon wedges, and fresh coriander leaves may be arranged around the plate.
These are also served warm with mint chutney, onion rings, and naan or roti.
And here is your chicken tikka made from scratch! Enjoy! 😊
